Coyle reaffirms desire to take Bolton job
• 43-year-old says he wants to leave Turf Moor• Burnley expected to demand £3m for managerOwen Coyle has moved closer to becoming the new Bolton manager after his current club, Burnley, confirmed this afternoon that they are to "enter discussions" with their Lancashire rivals over a compensation fee for the 43-year-old.Coyle agreed to move from Turf Moor to the Reebok Stadium last night after meeting the Bolton chairman, Phil Gartside, in Scotland on Sunday. Having then met with the Burnley chairman, Barry Kilby, yesterday Coyle decided to delay his decision for 24 hours but has now decided to replace Gary Megson at the club where he spent two years as a player."Owen Coyle has today reaffirmed his desire to leave Burnley Football Club and join Bolton Wanderers Football Club," read a statement on Burnley's website. "Burnley will now enter discussions with Bolton Wanderers, due to the fact that compensation between the two parties has yet to be agreed. There will be no further comment at this time."The compensation sum is expected to be around £3m. Should talks take place immediately and smoothly then Coyle, who took over at Burnley in 2007 and guided the club into the Premier League via last season's Championship play-off final, could be in charge for Bolton's visit to Sunderland on Saturday.BurnleyBolton WanderersPremier LeagueSachin Nakraniguardian.co.uk © Guardian News & Media Limited 2010 | Use of this content is subject to our Terms & Conditions | More Feeds

Wayne Bridge and Joleon Lescott on course for Manchester City return
• Both players should be fit for England's match against Egypt• Bridge should be fit first and might play this monthThe Manchester City defenders Joleon Lescott and Wayne Bridge should be fit in time for England's friendly with Egypt on 3 March. The pair have both been out since early December and neither has yet had a chance to impress City's new manager, Roberto Mancini. But it seems their time in the treatment room is coming to an end.Bridge suffered a knee injury in the victory over Chelsea last month and has missed eight games while Lescott had knee surgery to clean out the joint after suffering a problem at Bolton a week later. However, Mancini estimates that Bridge could be available in 10 days' time, which means he could possibly play in the home match against Portsmouth on 31 January.Lescott will be out for slightly longer but Mancini's estimate of "20 days" would still give the £22m former Everton player plenty of time to put himself into contention for the Egypt game, England's last match before Fabio Capello names his provisional World Cup squad in mid-May."It is good because they are both making progress," said Mancini.Manchester CityPremier Leagueguardian.co.uk © Guardian News & Media Limited 2010 | Use of this content is subject to our Terms & Conditions | More Feeds
